The Atlas of Infectious Diseases is the winner of the 2014 National Geographic Society and British Cartographic Society New Mapmaker Award, and the winner of the 2014 NACIS Student Dynamic Map Competition Award in the Narrative category.


The Atlas of Infectious Diseases provides a descriptive view on the past and current state of a broad range of infectious diseases. The four chapters of the Atlas of Infectious Diseases for iPads showcase aspects of select infectious diseases, both historic and emerging, through interactive maps. The first chapter provides a broad history of several diseases throughout time. The second chapter touches on the impacts socioeconomics and healthcare availability may have on managing infectious diseases. The third chapter explains select infectious disease in depth, including their discovery, transmission, global pandemics throughout history, management and elimination programs, and mortality rates. The fourth and final chapter documents the history of immunization for select infectious diseases.
