2 Samuel 2 Samuel

2 Samuel

A Better King

Descripción editorial

The book of 2 Samuel chronicles the rise and fall of King David. In the first half of the book, David rises from humble beginnings to become king over all Israel. He unites the kingdom and leads the people to military victories. However, at the height of his power, David enters into adultery with Bathsheba and murders her husband Uriah.
The second half of 2 Samuel documents David's decline. Though he repents, David faces ongoing consequences for his sins, including turmoil in his own household and the death of four of his sons.
While David accomplished much good for Israel, his moral failures and inability to solve the problem of God’s wrath against the nation’s sin foreshadow the need for Jesus, a better king.
This book was taught as a sermon series at CrossWinds Church in Spirit Lake, IA. The chapters correspond to the messages of the series. They include everything that was said on Sunday, even some announcements. The book aims to transport readers back in time to the Sunday mornings when the messages were delivered. I pray that through these pages, the Holy Spirit will transform hundreds into the image of Christ.
