Dira's Dragon

Dira Spanner has no intention of accepting anyone's help. 

After losing her mother, she left the job her uncle arranged with a printer and set out to make her own way. With winter closing in, survival is more challenging than independence.

But Dira is determined to manage on her own. She has enough stubbornness to get herself through the mountains, if the weather, hunger, and elevation don't kill her first.

When Dira falls asleep in what she thinks is a cave, she awakens curled at the chest of a dragon. Brundar takes one look at her disheveled clothes, lack of supplies, and desperate situation and concludes she won't survive a week.

Dira disagrees. But Brundar is too knowing to listen, and too crafty for a hungry, still waking young woman. A bargain gives her food and shelter for the winter and binds her to the young dragon he's training. Her tutor will arrive soon.

Unfortunately, he's a warrior with opinions of his own.

Zane Kase has no desire to teach a headstrong runaway how to survive or spend the winter serving a dragon's whims. He has his own reasons for avoiding dragons and people, but a promise from the past leaves him little choice.

Dira isn't impressed by her new tutor. Zane isn't impressed by her refusal to listen. Or how difficult she is to ignore. But when dragon hunters threaten the young dragon under Brundar's care, Dira and Zane find themselves on the same side of a fight neither expected.
