Descripción editorial

The book relates, for the first time, Cree history as they encountered Hudson during his exploration of Hudson Bay, including the Cree witness to the mutiny and the rescue of Hudson and his remaining men by the Cree. The book also shows the pre-Hudson knowledge of Hudson Bay by examining 16th century maps and Hudson's knowledge of them. The author shows that these maps existed before Hudson arrived in Hudson Bay and show Hudson Bay as it existed about 3-4,000 years ago. The author estimates that these maps were surveyed at least 3000 years ago and were probably repeatedly copied over this period through the 15th and early 16th century. Finally, the author shows that Hudson was not really looking for the Northwest passage to China, but for valuable metals and that his search was probably based on these early maps.
