Before the end of the world 2012, the Lucky Clover band holds a Dreams Come True concert in Taiwan where’s a beautiful Asian island. A crazy girl fan, ANN, rushes to give a love letter to a handsome girl drummer, SHI-HENG, and ANN scares her after the live performance. By accident, SHI-HENG recalls having been falling in love when she was a teenager. She listens to a C-Pop song Beauty Up My Life and uses a time machine to travel back to the time of 1999 into the past world. The lesbian couple, SHI-HENG and FANG-JUN, buries their love letter bottle that senior high school girls are brave together, thirsting for equal rights and freedom, and realizing their dream of getting love and happiness. 


SHI-HENG and FANG-JUN look like Gemini are born into the world, coincidentally, they’re at the same obstetrics and gynecology hospital while the earthquake happens in Taipei. Since then two people have different futures, although they have the same name’s mothers Formosa, FANG-JUN’s born into a wealthy family, she and her mother are lucky to be alive, but SHI-HENG’s born into a poor family, she loses her mother who died in the collapse of the building. Suddenly a couple of butterflies break the cocoon from pile of rubble and fly in front of rescue team, they hear a newborn baby cry and survive by miracle that gives everyone hope and line the streets to welcome them. After SHI-HENG grows up, she is happy-go-lucky teenager and brave to chase her dream of becoming an actor and leave home to study in Taipei where is the entertainment capital of the Chinese-speaking world. It’s destiny for SHI-HENG and FANG-JUN to meet each other unexpectedly, they audition for the leading actress in the competition of girl’s school drama club. SHI-HENG pretends to be the leading actor to attract her female fans’ attention and becomes a popular idol on campus, FANG-JUN quarrels from jealousy and has ambiguous feelings for her when they rehearse a play of All’s Well That Ends Well.


FANG-JUN wants to become a normal person, lets society accept her that a girl loves a boy, and dresses SHI-HENG like a spicy girl. They have date with TROUT and ROACH of boy’s school dance club to X’mas party. ROACH betrays his friend unexpectedly, goes after FANG-JUN and has indecent desire for her, but she escapes on the risk of sexual assault.


FANG-JUN hides herself from the world and stays at SHI-HENG’s place. They embrace each other warmly, a friend in need is a friend indeed, show each other love and truly want to be together. But ROACH spreads slanderous rumors and make personal attacks to SHI-HENG and FANG-JUN on BBS online, his action triggers a crisis of homophobia that DRILLMASTER and TEACHER fight against them, they discriminate against SHI-HENG, who a country girl, want to correct her and transform into a mental health girl. SHI-HENG challenge the school system bravely for love, insists on love with FANG-JUN regardless of parents’ opposition, and faces negative rumors on campus. SHI-HENG transfers to another girl school at her hometown in Hsinchu, indulges herself with rock and roll music, plays drums at an after-school music club, forms the Lucky Clover band and sings the song Rainbow for equal love.


SHI-HENG can turn an unfortunate girl’s fate into a lucky life when she walks back and forth between fear and courage to be yourself. ANN shows up again at on air radio show, SHI-HENG reveals the secret by accident that she broke through the limitations and commemorate her eternal love for FANG-JUN, changed sexual orientation and did at-home artificial insemination, and had a child of their own legally. When the Lucky Clover band sing for gay and lesbian couples’ wedding ceremonies outside the Legislative Yuan of Taiwan, they celebrate their dreams of marriage equality. ANN sees a rainbow flag waving on campus, the old DRILLMASTER retires and leaves lonely from the school, the old world of cold war disillusions and after that it vanishes.
