World War II Through the Faubus Era, 1941 - 1967

Descripción editorial

A history of Arkansas from World War II through the Faubus Era, 1941 - 1967.
The book covers information about German prisoners of war at Fort Chafee, Camp Robinson, and Camp Dermott, as well as other interesting facts such as the internment of Japanese Americans at Rohwer. Early attempts at desegration are highlighted, plus the racism of the time. The famous Desegregation Crisis of 1957 concerning Central High is a major part of the account of this era. Written in poetry form, it includes lesson plans.
