Model United Nations

The idea of this book initially grew out of my experience as the secretary-general of Korea Model United Nations-Ewha Conference in May 2015. The conference included several newcomers to Model United Nations, including one novice chair. While training my chairs ahead of the conference, I noticed that the novice chair did not understand my lessons at all. He later failed the chair's rules of procedure exam. After I asked him what he needed help on, he replied if I could send all the instructional materials to him so that he could study from them.

At first I was deeply concerned and confused. I sat down and pondered; I became aware of a critical loophole. Despite a recent surge in the popularity of Model United Nations and the subsequent creations of several conferences in Korea, I realized that there was not a consolidated guidebook which could direct the novice delegates and chairs through the intricacies of Model United Nations. That is why I decided to write this Model United Nations guidebook.

This guidebook was based on the materials I have used to teach students in my Middle School Model United Nations club at my school. It encapsulates my expertise in Model United Nations that I developed over the past four years. I have primarily written this book for novice delegates and chairs who wish to become better at their parts. However, this guidebook can also be read by people who are interested in what Model United Nations does and what is entailed in Model United Nations conferences.
