Plutarch's Lives

Dozens of editions of Plutarch's Lives exist. Nearly all of them do the same thing: reproduce the complete text — sometimes all 48 lives, sometimes just one — with a short biography of the author and a table of contents. None of them do what Plutarch himself was doing: hold two lives up against each other and ask what the comparison teaches.
