Descripción editorial

This is the story of bravery, resilience and freedom, as we follow Glitter the Lilac-crowned Parrot falling from her nest, her trials and pain and regaining strenghth and health, until she gains freedom with her friends and family in the skies of Southern California. It is a true story with a happy ending, but an honest account of the life of a wild urban parrot.

Glitter came from the San Diego area of California. She is an endangered Lilac-crowned Parrot, and most of her friends are endangered Red-crowned Parrots. There are 13 species of parrots in Southern California cities, including three endangered species, and there are many parrots that live in urban areas around the world. The greatest hardship they face is negative interactions with their fellow urbanites, the human citizens.

Glitter was very lucky. She was taken to the only wild parrot rescue, rehabilitation and release facility in all the United States, and the only wildlife rehabilitation facility in all the world which works solely with urban parrots: SoCal Parrot.
The goal for all wildlife rehabilitators is that their patients return to the wild, healthy, free, fully functional and able to raise their own families.

EVERY BIRD MATTERS.
