Stephen Webb is stranded on a dim, lifeless planet and Dr. Lowell is close to death. Across the universe, Neil and Marie arrive on the ocean planet Amphibios, where they run into an unexpected visitor. The path to finding Neil's father takes them to a scarred planet named Cylosis, where they arrive in the middle of a raging battle between the Resistance forces and the oppressive State. Neil must find the path that leads to his father and Dr. Lowell and if he can't, he must make the decision to move on to Varillam
