A local writer's body washes up near a popular beach on Queensland's Gold Coast and is suspected of being a suicide. But as the police look closer, doubts arise about his death as he was being paid well to write the memoirs of a convicted paedophile who wanted to exonerate himself. Why would he commit suicide when he would soon be a rich man?

His death is just the first piece in a puzzle because very soon a woman's body is discovered in bushland near a theme park and shakes the foundations of private investigator, Jack Curtis', world.

As the body count rises, Jack is forced to look to the past to reveal secrets buried deep. The tragedy he unearths makes it horrifically clear that in a world filled with hatred and pain, nothing comes close to what families can do to one another.
