But when a long-lost people emerge from the shadows of the Forbidden Gate, and his mentor and long-running Jewel-Bearer Lady Freyza passes away, Seynan's promising future is snatched away unless he can prove his worthiness to the mystic Jewels of El'ae that chose Lady Ana as Jewel-Bearer instead of him.

When his princely duties call him to the land-bound kingdom of Saelyn as Lady Ana's escort to the Saelynite court, he continually crosses paths with a repulsive Duke whose silent maidservant's cursed plight awakens the shard of Jewel he wears on a ring. Convinced the ring is leading him to redeem his destiny, he makes up his mind to redeem the Duke's maid and her brother from their parent's debt.

What he doesn't anticipate, however, is how much he stands to lose by obeying the mystic Jewel's promptings...not least of which is his heart.
