Frank Ross is back on the road, holed up in a taverna somewhere on the Texas panhandle, cooling his heels. He wants to evade a John Law who picked up on him while he was riding through a small town. Frank pulled into the taverna's back parking lot, out of sight and out of mind - except he wasn't. He didn't even have time for a pull on his Lone Star before the Sheriff walked in.
When the bartender flips Frank the keys to her house after telling him she's in trouble, he does a double take but accepts his good fortune. Little does he know that the good fortune would turn into more drugs and money tempered by a black Labrador named Mollie who likes tennis balls but doesn't fetch.
That's all right with Frank, though. He's too busy trying to get the bartender off the hook for the drugs and the cash she's witnessed her boss and the sheriff stashing in the woman's office. Once Frank gets settled in, he's bound for more trouble than he can handle, but it's not the first time he's dealt with cartel cash and drugs.
