Dion Waiters gets buckets.
After proving his scoring prowess at the University of Syracuse, Dion was a Top-5 NBA Draft pick and has proven his ability to put the ball in the basket through his first few seasons in the NBA. Though he has sometimes clashed with teammates and not always fit on certain systems, Waiters has proved to have one elite NBA skill: He can get — and make — his shot against anyone.
Dion Waiters is the full package as a scorer at the shooting guard position, with the ability to create his own shots off the dribble or play off the ball, the size and strength to finish in the paint though contact, and the athleticism to break down defenders off the dribble. This Signature Workout program addresses some of Dion’s best skills, including:
Using Crossover Moves To Create Space And Shots
One And Two Dribble Drives To The Basket
Creating And Finishing Through Contact
Midrange Pullup Jump Shooting
Finishing In The Paint Over And Around Help Defenders
Background on Dion Waiters
Shooting guard Dion Waiters is a fast rising NBA talent. Drafted 4th overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2012, the 6 foot 4 in, 225 pound Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native has long been a basketball star. He attended both South Philadelphia High School and Bartram High School in his freshman year and South Kent School his sophomore year but didn't play basketball at any of the schools. He began playing when he transferred to Life Center Academy as a junior. By the time Waiters completed his senior year at Life Center Academy in Burlington, New Jersey, he was the 15th highest rated recruit in the nation and the number two rated shooting guard.
Waiters attended Syracuse University from 2010–2012. He was a 2010 Second-team Parade All-American. In his second season at Syracuse, Waiters was voted Sixth Man of the Year, Honorable Mention on the AP All-American team, and was a member of the Big East All-Tournament team. As a freshman at Syracuse Waiters averaged 6.6 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. As a sophomore he averaged to 12.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. His game had improved so much and he showed so much potential that he caught the attention of several NBA teams.
Waiters made a splash in the NBA immediately. In February 2013 he was named Rookie of the Month. He was also on the 2013 league All-Rookie First team and selected to the NBA Rising Stars team in 2013 and 2014.
