Ryan Coleman is a dreamer. He dreams of a world with no rich or poor, and freedom for everyone. Even though he has made his fortune in the new world economy, his contempt for that world drives him to leave it crumbling behind him and start over. To fulfill his dream of a new and better society, he buys an island and recruits a thousand of the world's best and brightest to help him start anew. He believes that he and his chosen will create a new world free from the constraints that cripple and condemn the human race to self-imposed misery. The colony of Elysium is born. Told through the eyes of a colonist, IMAGINE takes you into this world. Elysium starts off well, and for a good while, the island is truly a heaven on earth. But things inexorably change for the worse. Divisions appear and soon two communities each claim sovereignty. What causes the separation and can such a society remain peaceful and prosperous? Do the best and brightest of the world control their future, or do events control them? Does Ryan Coleman's grand experiment succeed, or is it doomed to fail? Finally, when the island if visited by a ship after fifty years, what does it find?
