Nutcracker and the Mouse King

On Christmas Eve, an ordinary toy becomes the doorway to a magical world of battles, kingdoms, and wonder.

Enter the enchanting world of E. T. A. Hoffmann's The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, the classic fairy tale that inspired generations of adaptations, including the beloved ballet.

On Christmas Eve, young Marie receives a mysterious nutcracker doll. Before long, the familiar world around her begins to transform as the Nutcracker faces the terrifying Mouse King and Marie finds herself drawn into a strange and magical adventure.

Blending childhood imagination, fantasy, mystery, and Christmas wonder, Hoffmann's original tale is darker and more elaborate than many later adaptations.

First published in 1816, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King remains a foundational work of European fairy-tale literature.
