The Abyss of Truth

Mixing prose, poetry, metaphor, parable and philosophy The Abyss of Truth takes you on the journey of Ashiata as he follows the longing in his heart for truth, freedom and self-discovery. After hearing a speech from the 'Mad Poet Sage' in the town, Ashiata embarks on a quest into the hills and deep into the depths of his own experience and Being. Here he dances with Life and Death, embraces the serpent's bite, encounters the feminine and masculine and comes face to face with innocence, emptiness, love, and finally . . . the Abyss.

The Abyss of Truth is a modern day parable symbolising the spiritual quest, the search for God, the search for truth, the call of the divine, the quest for eternal life, awakening and enlightenment. Whichever words we use, every era in human history has had its fascination with some eternal, indescribable truth. Follow Ashiata as he embarks on his own quest, frees himself of the crowd and heeds the inner call to discover the inexplicable horizon which feels so far and yet so utterly intimate.

Taken from Benjamin's direct experience the book is semi-autobiographical and highly metaphorical in nature. Inspired by Nietzche's Thus Spoke Zarathustra – and in places almost an ode and parody of that book – it similarly inspires spiritual passion and life-affirming longing. The ideas and experience which inform it, however, are often very different to Nietzsche's. The book arose directly from Benjamin's own experience and it sears with a life of its own.

This is a book to be read with a poet's heart, a seeker's mind and a lover's presence. A book for all those who feel pulled by that inner call, and for all those who wish to discover the truth of who they are free from the cacophony of wordly voices. This is a book of the beyond.
