Revenge is a dish best served with a vintage Riesling.

Former Boston detective Mave moved to the coastal village of Bracken Cove for the "slow lane." She imagined a life of artisanal lattes, tide-pooling with her four-year-old, and listening to her husband deconstruct Victorian literature. She didn't plan on the murder rate being higher than the caffeine content.

When Larsen Whitmore—the town's arrogant, Michelin-star-chasing chef—is found dead at the base of Skylark Bluff, the locals are quick to call it a tragic suicide. But Mave spots what the village gossip mill missed: a thermos of herbal tea spiked with a heavy sedative, and a car door left wide open like an invitation.

Larsen was a man who collected enemies like he collected vintage wines. There's the manic PTA president whose catering contract he canceled; the desperate diner owner with a gambling debt; and the struggling single mom he publicly humiliated.

But as Mave peels back the layers of Harbor Green's polite society, she realizes the killer isn't the person with the loudest grudge—it's the one with the most to lose.
