Have you heard this one? Woman comes to the airport to meet her fiancé. He shows up with a brand-new wife! But wait, it gets better. The jilted woman worked at his family restaurant, was best friends with his sister, and considered his family hers. Joke's on that dummy!

Me. I'm the dummy. And losing my fiancé means I've lost most of my life. So I call my old friend, Luke, now a hockey player, begging for a place to stay while I make new plans.

Luke, great guy that he is, gives me an open-ended invite. I have a chance to look for a new job, new friends…and sleep with someone else before I face my ex again. Because I refuse to have him as my only sexual experience.

Playing at the top level of hockey is my dream come true, but it's not as simple as I imagined. I'm on the last year of a two-way contract, so I can be sent down to the farm team any time, making a fraction of my salary. Which I need, for my mom's recovery from the accident that killed my dad.

Grief, money problems, my mom's health, and the pressure of staying on this team are stressing me out. A new coach means my position is even more precarious. And then I get a call from Kenzie, one of my old besties.

Having her around makes things better, and I'll do whatever I can to help her get over the mess her ex left her. I introduce her to some of the other women who are dating my teammates, welcome her to stay as long as she wants, show her around Toronto…

The one thing I can't help her with is sleeping with someone new. Not when we're friends. That's a line we can't cross. Right?
