William Campbell was a great student and writer on Prophecy in the late 1920s and early 1930s (and beyond).
His congregation thoroughly enjoyed his sermons and asked him to write ‘a story’ about how he thought some of the events in prophecy may come about.
Focusing on Daniel 9, Matthew 24 and Revelation 12, this he did in 1934 and this novelette is the result.
The 21st century reader will see some limitations in what is written here.
However, please remember it was written before World War 2, and his scenario as to how Israel would be back in Jerusalem and the land, although proved incorrect, was imaginative and credible in 1934.
Similarly, his time scale as to when these events would come to pass has not proven to be correct – just like George Orwell’s 1984.
This work like all his writings, and especially his prophetic ones, show his great love of the Scriptures and his faith in the Word of God, letting the Bible mean what it says without spiritualizing or allegorizing it.
