The name of the game is survival.

When Annette O'Leary's ex-con of a husband evades police again after another encounter of domestic violence, she takes her daughter and flees. The PFA order never stops her ex from coming after her and now the police are unable to help. Her hope fading, she pulls over at a diner one rainy night where an elderly lady offers a place to sleep for the night.

Austin McPherson would soon learn that when one bridge burns you need to make a raft to get over the rushing water. Coming back to Rayne's Falls Ranch, to his families' land from his job in Texas had been hard when the circumstances behind his return had come from heartbreak. What he hadn't expected was to wake up in the early morning to a beautiful woman screaming in his home or an adorable little girl easing her way into his heart.

Although, sometimes blessings can seem like a curse. Ending up at a diner in the middle of nowhere on a stormy night would end up being the start of a new beginning, one neither Annette nor Austin would see coming. Their acquaintance would grow into a cat and mouse romance that would end up dragging them both between the sheets.
