OMG
I'm completely impacted! 🤯 This isn't your usual thriller; it flips the suspense logic by revealing the killer right in the synopsis. And it's precisely this twist that makes reading (or, in my case, listening!) so fascinating. The real tension lies in following what happens next, the devastating consequences, and the web of lies a family weaves to maintain a terrible secret.
The story is one of those that leaves you with a feeling of vulnerability, as if any misstep could trigger the worst.
I listened to this book on audiobook, and the experience was amplified by the narration from three different perspectives: Lydia's, Laurence's, and Karen's (the victim's sister). This multi-perspective approach is brilliant, allowing us to dive into each character's mind and motivations, feeling the claustrophobia of the lies and the spiral of events even more intensely. The narrators did an incredible job bringing these distinct voices to life.
For anyone looking for a psychological thriller that breaks the mold, with morally ambiguous characters and a plot that keeps you hooked from beginning to end, "Lying in Wait" is a must-read (or listen!). Get ready to bite your nails!
