Sharon Kivland describes strands of influence in her work, which draws on French and Russian literature of the 18th and 19th centuries, in particular concerning the changing roles of women in domestic, social, and political life. She shows how this filtered to modes of fashion into the 20th century, expressed in a range of her collages and drawings exhibited at Domobaal London in 2011.
