He is twelve inches tall, woven from living tendrils and island light.

On the beaches of Papako he was meant to be nothing more than a child’s forgotten toy.

Then he awakened, reached out to save a human child, and chose to matter.

Now, hurled across the void to Earth, he faces the Vast. An endless smile that devours stories, rewrites wills, and leaves only obedient husks behind.

Against the Vast stands a beach toy small enough to hide in a pocket.

He will forge a blade from his own body.

He will climb inside nightmares tall as skyscrapers.

He will lose everything and keep fighting anyway.

Because some refusals are too large for any size.
