Josephine Peabody was an American poet and writer. Josephine's writing style was highly influenced by works of such poets as William Shakespeare, Christopher Marlowe and Robert Browning. Her later works reflected her growing concern about the problems of social injustice. She also wrote poems for children and her own retellings of the ancient myths.

Have you ever heard the story of Oedipus? No? So listen… once upon a time in  ancient Greece there was a king. One day the Oracle foretold him that he would have a son. It's always a joy for a man to have a son, escpecially for a king. But according to the oracle this son was destined to kill his own father. Of course the king and his beloved wife were terrified.
