A Great Coach is Love

Coaches often speak and focus on the X's and O's of their particular sport. Many of them forget about the U's. How we treat the athlete is more important than what we teach the athlete. We need to prepare and connect to build their lives more than build just their talent in a specific activity. In 20 years, they will not remember what you taught them, but they will remember how your treated them. In order to connect with our athletes we need to love them. Even more than that, we need to BE love to them. Love is defined in the Bible specifically in 1 Corinthians 13. We need to use those characteristics with our athletes to add value to their lives and their journey.
