A Living Heart

During an act of teenaged rebellion, Judith Reece is blinded and abandoned by the man she loves. Years later, she lives independently but fears her mother's failing health and the loss of the only home she knows. "Ample financial compensation" is a phrase that runs through her head from a personal ad read to her for a laugh. When she answers the ad and finds she is the only applicant, she is rushed into an unorthodox marriage for the prize of a million dollars.
