A Major Consequence

It was a tough life

Beschreibung des Verlags

Brian Major resigned from HM Diplomatic Service in 1979 at the age of 39.  In the first book, “ A Major Contribution - to the world’s population explosion”, he took an often quirky look at his first career and his family’s  peripatetic life until then.

In “A Major Consequence” he relates the consequences on his and his family’s life of his career change and their adjusting to what they thought was going to be a settled life in the UK.   It goes on to describe his and his wife’s efforts to keep up with their children’s  (and, later, their grandchildren’s) lives after they flew the nest to various parts of the world.  Their travels took them from the Norwegian Arctic Circle to Australia and just about everywhere in between, including “A slow Boat to Singapore”.  Their love of Spain comes through in the chapter “In the Footsteps of the Moors”.  South Africa and Namibia feature prominently.  Brian Major, the Old Grump that he is, cannot resist a dig at modern English language mis-usages in “Crumbling and Crumbling”.

His later business career is related in the (much shorter) third book in the series, “ A Major Leap - of Faith or Folly”.
