This is a life story about a young man who leaves his home, in order to pursue his dream of becoming a sailor. He got that from his father who also was a sailor. After his parents’ death, he and his sister become wards of the Anglican rector. In the household of the rector, they meet with two other children. One of them is a boy, with whom the main character runs away and goes to the sea. His first voyage together is to Canton, China and his second voyage is around the world. On the both of his voyages interesting things happen.
