In a world decimated by warfare, The Wretched Rout makes its living off the profits of lost hope. Enter the man called Crane, star performer of the traveling circus who boasts the ability to create custom afterlives with a smoke-and-mirrors show. For years they run their ruse, until one day Crane is shown the way to Paradise Hollow, an oddly preserved oasis amidst devastation.

They thought they’d found sanctuary. But when Crane is visited by a seductive stranger with the power to make his con real, the showman realizes paradise is nothing more than a hunting ground for the devil in disguise … and so he makes a deal – his soul, in exchange for dominion over death.

But when his new realm threatens the balance between good and evil and he’s ordered to sacrifice the utopia he sold his soul to create, he vows to finally take a stand in this world of ruin.
