This case presents a variety of appeals and cross-appeals arising out to a hybrid breach of contract/unfair representation action brought by Fletcher L. Allen (Allen) under section 301(a) of the Labor Management Relations Act, 29 U.S.C. § 185.*fn1 Allen sought reinstatement, back pay, damages and attorney fees against his employer, Allied Plant Maintenance Company of Tennessee (Allied), his collective bargaining agent, Local 912, International Union of Operating Engineers (Local 912), and Local 912's parent organization, the International Union of Operating Engineers, AFL-CIO (International).*fn2
