Beschreibung des Verlags

Lady Wilde was an Irish poet and an ardent nationalist.  She had a particular interest in Irish folklore and fairy tales, which she helped to gather.  She wrote many pro-Irish and anti-British articles under the pseudonym of “Speranza”.

After the death of her husband, Sir William Wilde, she discovered that the family was virtually bankrupt and moved to London to be with her sons, William (a journalist), and Oscar, eventually the most famous member of the family.  At that time, Lady Wilde supplemented her income by writing articles for magazines and books on Irish folklore, from notes collected by her late husband.

This edition of Lady Wilde’s Ancient Legends, Mystic Charms, and Superstitions of Ireland is specially formatted with a Table of Contents and pictures of Ireland and characters from Irish folklore.
