Arguments with Gandhi focuses on the arguments that Gandhi had in his lifetime with various interlocuters, both Indian and Western, and incorporate his contested legacies after his death.

It deals with themes of enduring global interest such as civil disobedience, caste and gender justice, racial politics, and environmentalism. These themes are explored not in the abstract but through real and intense arguments in historical time, by an author who is unparalleled in his field as well as being a beautiful writer.
