When Alice Pendleton, starving artist, receives her first book contract in the mail, she believes her dreams have come true. Until Aurora, her scheming older sister, falls on hard times and comes to stay for "just a little while." Days turn into weeks turn into years, while Aurora sabotages Alice's career.
