Badlands National Park

Badlands National Park is located in the State of South Dakota in the United States. This vast landscape is filled with eroded buttes, pinnacles and spires blended with mixed grass prairie that extends as far as the eye can see. The park preserves the world’s greatest fossil beds of animals from the Oligocene Epoch of the Age of Mammals. Skeletons of ancient camels and saber-toothed cats are among fossilized species found. People of the Lakota tribe call this land “Mako Sica” meaning “land bad.”
