“Bar Pinotxo is the center of my gastronomic universe” — John Gorham of Toro Bravo restaurants

Bar Pinotxo, God Is in the Garbanzos is a passionate and personal introduction to Catalan and Spanish cuisine and culture, the true family story of four generations of restaurateurs, and a cookbook for lovers of Mediterranean cuisine.

The real-life Bar Pinotxo is the essential Barcelona food experience, a single-counter restaurant tucked inside La Boqueria, Barcelona’s renowned public food market, where customers eagerly line up for a coveted seat. Author Robin Willis searches for the secret of Bar Pinotxo’s success and along the way tells the story of the Bayén-Asin family who has run the bar for four generations. Over the years the family has remained true to their origins, preparing honest Catalan recipes that nourish body and soul. This book shares their thoughts on life, on people, on running a restaurant, and most of all, on great food.

Bar Pinotxo, God Is in the Garbanzos offers you more than 30 delicious recipes for the authentic Mediterranean diet served at Bar Pinotxo. It is a true Barcelona cookbook that includes details on the techniques and ingredients used so that you can easily prepare this soul-warming food.

Think of this book as your reservation for a seat at the counter for a place serving some of the best food ever made and the ideal way to bring that magic into your own home.

Bon profit – Buen provecho – Bon apetit!
