BELOVED SON

"I found him."

An explosion rocks San Francisco International, killing four...but not five.

One got away. The one they needed most.

"You found who?" she said.

Benjamin Jacobs packs his bags. After eight years in Air Force Pararescue he's through playing the hero. All he wants now are answers - about who he is, where he came from, and the father he's never known. Finally, he may have one.

Ben held his breath. Some things you can't unsay. "I found my father..."

Obadiah Gibbs is chairman of Pangea Energy, one of the most powerful men on earth - and the father Ben has searched a lifetime for. But on the eve of their first fateful visit, a devastating explosion nearly kills Obadiah before they ever have the chance to meet.

In an instant, Ben's long-awaited reunion becomes something else entirely as he is thrust into his father's world, one filled with old scars, dangerous rivals, and long-buried secrets. Alongside Obadiah and his two trusted lieutenants - Matisse Kanda, the enigmatic Congolese, and Evelyn Church, ex-Mossad, as brash and brilliant as she is beautiful - Ben joins a search for answers that whisks them from the sun-drenched coasts of California to the blood-soaked sands of Florence to Switzerland's glamorous White Turf, where he will discover that if he wants a family, let alone a future, his days playing the hero may just be getting started.
