Included in this book are ten pieces by Fernando Sor. Sor was one of the great Spanish guitarists who contributed so much to the guitar’s permanent repertoire. He was an innovator. In his method for guitar, he stressed such things as a better position of the left hand and thumb to gain more technical facility. He advocated diligent practice of scales not only in single notes, but also in thirds and sixths. He made an in-depth study of harmonics and their practical use on the guitar. Sor’s music displays a mastery of the craft of composition. He followed the rules of harmony and composition explicitly.
