Beyond Revenge

Tony was content, sort of.  Yes, the planet was a post-nuclear apocalyptic wasteland covered in rubble and dotted with radioactive hotspots, and yes, his universal basic income wasn't enough to cover his rent, let alone food, but still, he was basically happy.  He had his cab, which started and ran on most days, the Quickland Mart was still open and serving up hot, albeit microwaved burritos, and he made enough money from his occasional fares to buy himself a beer every other night.  That was until a strange kid showed up on the street.  Somehow, the boy took up residence in his cab, becoming his co-pilot and calling him "Pa."  Tony could live with that.  He liked being a dad until an even stranger guy got in his cab and took them all for a ride that ended up in outer space.
 

In the meantime, Captain Casey Fields can't remember who she is, where she is, or why, which might or might not be due to the massive scar on the back of her head.  When she is medically released from the hospital and returned to her ship, the S/S Intrepid, she's given an easy assignment to get her spacelegs under her again.  All she needed to do was monitor a meeting of the Rehnorian Ruling Council, write a report and send it up the chain of command.  But, of course, nothing is ever easy for the Cowgirl Captain who has a propensity to get herself into gunfights.  After bolting out of the meeting, she finds herself spiraling down to the devastated planet below, which oddly enough, triggers memories she didn't know she had.
