Beyond the Rimu Grove

Beyond the Rimu Grove is a rural saga set in 1960s New Zealand.

In the summer of 1966, Ellie McTavish is assigned to Ngarimu Valley School as a Probationary Assistant. As her coming of age narrative evolves, the reader is immersed in an isolated community where lives are poignantly and inextricably interwoven and nothing is quite the way it seems.

The young ones are railing against the stifling, hypocritical values of the times. Vulnerable and inexperienced, Ellie encounters challenges as she adapts to the cultural and social expectations of the community.
