Rachel McDougal dotes on Lisa all the time—be it with ice-cream, movies or sisterly advice. She's lived on her own her whole adult life but having her sister at home with her is a welcome change. Things are also changing at the senior care center where she works. Her favorite patient, Violet, recently lost her son and daughter-in-law. When her nephew arrives in Bloombay to pick up the pieces, Rachel instantly takes a liking to him.
Harper Wilson is struggling to balance being a single mom and keeping up with the demands of a career in law. Luckily, her mother visits her in Chicago, helping Harper while bonding with her granddaughter. Everyday Harper longs for time away on Bloombay, and when her mom is ready to return to the island Harper wishes to go with her. But she can't give up her job now that's she's just settled in, nor does she want to leave her new coworker in the lurch. Harper is thrilled when he unexpectedly asks her out, but soon wonders if she can date and still be a good mother.
