Bobby Carapisi had his dream job as a relief pitcher for an expansion baseball team when he got slammed while buying ice cream for his pregnant wife. Eric Larson was en-route home after a particularly nasty shift of waiting tables, wondering how he could pay his rent.

But then each man crossed the path of Allen Barrow, who seemed like a quiet mouse of a guy...and the brutal encounters sent their lives spiraling out of control.

Allen was partnered with a pair of sexual predators, and Eric was not their first victim, nor was Bobby their last. That was despite Eric reporting the assault on himself. But instead of tracking down his assailants, the nightmare of an uncaring system of justice exploded around him.

As for Bobby, he just wanted to ignore what happened to him so he could focus on his family and career...but his own psyche would not play along. Nor would the world, which had its own ideas on how to treat them both.
