After rescuing the daughter of a Southern Colorado land owner, Vince Roberts is thrust into the middle of a 18th Century mystery. From the 16th to the early 19th century, Colorado was a major pathway for Spanish gold caravans, but only about a third of all the gold transported ever reached the Gulf Coast. Where did the lost shipments end up? Vince Roberts is about to find out. In the Mid 1700's a transport led by Carrasco Rodriguez carried 12 chests of gold coins from Santa Fe New Mexico to Florida. They got as far as southern Colorado, never to be heard from again. Advance a hundred years. From the 1850’s through the Civil War, Colorado experienced another form of gold rush in the form of mining in the mountain boom towns of Blackhawk, Cripple Creek and Leadville. In the eastern states however, the Civil War rages on and the Confederacy’s coffers were empty. A desperate plan to raid the goldfields of Colorado was hatched by men looking to keep the Confederate cause alive. How did these two seemingly unrelated eras interrelate? If Vince Roberts can stay alive, he's going to find out.
