Catching Karma

The summer monsoon season in Arizona heats up after a body surfaces in Lake Pleasant on the northern outskirts of metropolitan Phoenix. Writer James McCarthy and his unofficially adopted brother, Detective William Dugan, get pulled into the investigation after the victim is identified as a man connected to one of Will's narcotics cases.

Venturing deep into the foothills of the Bradshaw Mountains, they are joined by a tough, no nonsense Deputy Sheriff and follow a trail of clues that leads the trio to a dark secret buried deep within the hills and canyons of the rugged desert landscape.

When their investigation leads back into the city, James must once again step out of his comfort zone and into the criminal underworld of Phoenix. James is forced to reprise his dangerous role of drug kingpin Jimmy Ray to help his brother solve the case. But there's a catch-Will's partner, Carl Stiverson, has no idea that the drug dealer at the top of his most-wanted list is nothing but a phantom played by the clever young writer.
