Democracy and Education

First published in 1915, John Dewey’s “Democracy and Education” is considered by many to be a landmark examination into the philosophy of education and its importance in a democratic society. In this influential treatise, Dewey argues for a progressive model of education because an effective educational system is the only way to build a productive and responsible democratic society.
