Frank Herbert’s classic masterpiece—a triumph of the imagination and one of the bestselling science fiction novels of all time.
Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of Paul Atreides—who would become known as Muad'Dib—and of a great family's ambition to bring to fruition mankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.
A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction.

Fantastic Worldbuilding
Although the Recent movies where a great companion in imagining this world completely, the book does a great job of capturing Arrakis as a sand planet that ultimately still feels grounded in religion and politics. The real influences and Inspirations herbert pulls from make the world feel rich and powerful instead of dry and bland as some would argue Star Wars’ Tatooine can feel at times. Speaking of Star Wars, it is quite obvious that this book was a huge inspiration for Lucasfilms Movies. So if you are a fan of Star Wars or Sci-Fi for that matter this is should be an interesting read.
Although for me the characters where at times too straight forward, I certainly am still compelled to read the 2nd book in preparation for the 3rd movie right away.
