Duty Before You

In 1935, at a company New Year's celebration in Oregon, twenty-three-year-old James O'Sullivan meets twenty-two-year-old Margarit Norwey. Their connection is immediate, and over the following years they build a relationship filled with quiet dreams, riverside walks, and hopes of marriage and family.

Then history intervenes.

After the attack on Pearl Harbor, James enlists in the United States Army, convinced that serving his country is a responsibility he cannot ignore. Promotions, overseas assignments, and new conflicts—including Korea—carry him farther from home year after year.
