As of 2008, China was the third largest economy and Brazil was the eighth largest. India was not on the list of the top 10 largest world economies as of 2008. Russia was excluded from the authors' analysis because of a much older demographic profile, a shrinking population, less diverse economy, and continued significant corruption.
