Leaving the city, her only friend and a mind-numbingly dull job, Verity set off for fresh horizons deep in the Cornish countryside. Life in the city had been driving her mad and a complete change was what she desperately needed. But can you leave your past behind?

Cornwall breathed new life into Verity and her daughter, Constance. Chickens, ducks and alpacas were among her new co-habitees and with eccentric new friends and neighbours she settled into a peaceful, relaxing existence.

But before long, her past came rolling down the M5! A hilarious wild goose chase, a body in the woods, everyone she knew (and some she'd rather not know) descended on her new-found quietude.

How would she cope? How would everyone else cope?
