Lost in the void, a rookie captain and his grizzled mentor must navigate the darkness to find their way home.

Forced out of retirement by his old friend, Armon Vance reluctantly agrees to mentor Lore Ballen, a promising but inexperienced starship captain. Their maiden voyage on the SS Bourke quickly becomes a nightmare when the vessel is hurled far beyond the galaxy's boundaries. Now, stranded in the inky blackness of the void, Ballen must rely on Vance's wisdom and growing leadership skills to guide his crew back to civilization before their supplies dwindle to nothing.
